We run into many problems with the bulk import of leads. We have a master list to hold data for inbound calls (the majority of our calls) but then when we want data for outbound calls we do a data import into that list to make sure all the data is there and to reset any existing leads before moving onto outbound list. We always end up with duplicates because if de-dupe on just phone then if you include an email address in the bulk upload (which we tend to do so) you end up creating a new contact with just that email address... but if you de-dupe on both phone and email if that lead in Max was created without an email address (often the case from our original data import) then you guessed it, a new contact with just that email address is created! The ideal behaviour would be an option if there was a match when de-duplicating then to create a new lead, merge in all the call history from the duplicates and delete the old leads (or to that effect)
